This Health & Safety Policy applies to:

  1. All Dogs Under Tail Club’s Care

  • Any dog admitted for boarding, daycare, grooming, café visits, or special events.

  • Includes dogs in play areas, rest areas, feeding zones, or any other facility managed by Tail Club.

  • Covers both supervised and semi-supervised activities, including socialisation and group play sessions.


  1. Owners and Visitors Using Tail Club Services

  • Pet owners who bring their dogs for services or visits.

  • Visitors to the café or play areas who may interact with dogs under supervision.

  • Individuals are expected to follow rules and staff instructions to ensure safety.


  1. Tail Club Staff and Third-Party Service Providers

  • All employees, contractors, and service providers involved in the care, handling, or supervision of dogs.

  • Includes trainers, groomers, maintenance staff, and any personnel entering dog care areas.

  • Staff are responsible for adhering to health and safety protocols and responding appropriately to incidents.


  1. All Areas Operated by Tail Club

  • Covers all physical locations, including boarding facilities, daycare zones, play areas, grooming spaces, and café areas.

  • Applies to indoor and outdoor areas, equipment, toys, bedding, feeding stations, and sanitation facilities.


Responsibilities

  1. Management Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with local and national animal health regulations.

  • Provide staff with training, resources, and protective equipment to maintain safe environments.

  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify hazards, maintain cleanliness, and ensure safe equipment.


  1. Staff Responsibilities

  • Supervise all dogs at all times to prevent injuries, fights, or unsafe behaviour.

  • Respond promptly to health issues, injuries, or behavioural incidents.

  • Follow operational safety protocols and report hazards immediately to management.


  1. Dog Owners / Visitors Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information about their dog’s health, vaccinations, behaviour, and dietary needs.

  • Follow staff instructions and posted rules to ensure safety for all dogs.

  • Ensure their dog behaves appropriately and does not pose a risk to others.

  • Pet Parents represent that their pet has not been exposed to rabies, distemper, or any contagious disease within thirty (30) days prior to boarding.


Dog Health & Safety Requirements

  1. Vaccinations & Medical Records

  • All dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations and provide proof before using Tail Club services.

  • Dogs with contagious diseases or medical conditions that could endanger others will be refused service.


  1. Behavioural Assessment

  • Aggressive or disruptive dogs may be refused service or removed from the premises.

  • Owners must disclose behavioural issues, allergies, or special care requirements.


  1. Supervision & Safe Play

  • Dogs are supervised by trained staff at all times.

  • Dogs are grouped for play based on size, temperament, and social behaviour.

  • Staff intervene immediately to prevent aggressive interactions or unsafe behaviour.


  1. Feeding & Dietary Safety

  • Dogs are fed according to owner instructions or dietary plans.

  • Human food or treats not provided by the owner are prohibited.


Medication & Special Care

  • Dogs requiring medications or special care must have written instructions.


  • Staff will administer medications only as instructed by owners or veterinarians.


Environmental & Facility Safety

  • Indoor and outdoor areas are maintained at safe temperatures with proper ventilation and shaded zones.

  • Water is available at all times to prevent dehydration.

  • Play areas, boarding spaces, and café zones are regularly cleaned and sanitised.

  • Toys, bedding, feeding bowls, and surfaces are disinfected with pet-safe products.


Emergency Health Care

  • If a dog becomes ill, injured, or shows signs of distress, staff will provide immediate care.

  • Tail Club may contact a licensed veterinarian and take reasonable steps to stabilise the dog.

  • Owners remain financially responsible for any veterinary treatment required during their dog’s stay.

  • As a precautionary measure, Tail Club may administer a flea and tick preventive (such as Neomac 10 mg tablet) in the pet’s first meal while boarding. Pet Parents must inform Tail Club in advance if they do not consent to this treatment.


Owner Updates & Communication

  • Tail Club makes reasonable efforts to provide updates, including photos or videos, while dogs are in boarding or daycare.

  • Updates are provided as a courtesy and may not be continuous or in real-time.


Minor Illness & Sickness Protocol

  • Dogs showing signs of minor illness, such as mild coughing, sneezing, diarrhoea, vomiting, or lethargy, will be monitored closely by Tail Club staff.

  • Staff may separate the dog from others temporarily to prevent stress or the potential spread of illness.

  • Owners will be notified promptly of any symptoms or health concerns observed during their dog’s stay.

  • While minor illnesses are managed on-site when safe, owners remain responsible for consulting a veterinarian if required.


Working Dog Disclaimer

Pet Parents certify that the pet being boarded is not currently, nor is it foreseen to become, a working dog or a source of income to the Pet Parent.
